History at Yanwath 🏺⏳
At Yanwath, our History curriculum is designed to spark curiosity and help children understand the past, making connections to the world around them today. We encourage children to ask questions, think critically, and explore different perspectives so they can see how history shapes the lives we live now.
From the earliest years, children start learning about personal history through topics like All About Me. In Key Stage 1, they explore the contributions of individuals in history, and in Key Stage 2, they investigate tools such as the Census to understand the past in a deeper way.
Our History lessons also include local history, helping children feel proud of and connected to our community. We teach key historical concepts like power, migration, empire, civilisation, trade, religion, and society, giving children a clear chronological understanding of the past.
