Year 3 News

CET Tag Rugby Festival

Despite the rainy weather Year 3 and 4 had an amazing time at the Tag Rugby Festival last week. The training was brilliant as were the games! All children learnt a lot of skills and tactics and send thanks to the secondary school group leaders. Yanwath won a number of games and all came away…

In our Science lessons we are learning about light. We have been exploring how mirrors work and the difference concave, convex and plain mirrors make to reflections. We have loved looking at how the reflections of our faces change when looking at concave or convex mirrors!

Welcome to Year 3 Class Eamont

My name is Mrs Jardine, and I am the year 3 teacher this year. We have a fantastic year planned for our learning in this academic year starting with our Autumn Term!

Autumn Term

This term we will be beginning our first topic the Stone Age! We will be looking at changes in Britain from the Stone Age to the Iron Age, including late Neolithic hunter-gatherers, and early farmers.

The children will get the opportunity to create their very own cave paintings in art, and design a Stone Age settlement in Design Technology.  We will also be creating our own story based on Stone Age Boy by Satoshi Kitamura along with a class visit via ‘Microsoft Teams’ to meet an archaeologist and examine some real life Stone Age artefacts.

Homework

Spellings will be sent out via Class DoJo on a Friday to be practised at home and tested on the following Friday. Here at Yanwath we Strive For Five! This is our nightly reading homework and runs from Saturday to Friday.  Children will receive up to 5 DoJo points – one for each star they have achieved in their Strive For Five challenge.

PE

We have PE twice a week, children will need an indoor and an outdoor PE Kit.  These will be kept on their peg until half-term when the children will bring them home. No jewellery should be worn for safety reasons. Children who wear earrings must take them out for PE or tape them up. Children should bring their own tape into school and must tape their earrings by themselves.
