We are now in the final stages of planning to reopen to all children from Thursday 3rd September. The following letter outlines some of the key changes and information you will need to know for a successful transition to school. Please read and if you need any further clarification, email the admin team at school.
Start and end times of the school day
We have divided families into two groups for drop off and pick ups to and from school to help us to manage social distancing between adults. Families are grouped by their surnames.
Group 1 – surnames with the initial A to M 8:40am
Group 2 – surnames with the initial N to Z 8:50am
We are asking parents to come through the first gate and walk their children to the appropriate door for their classroom. On Tuesday 1st we will send out a video for each year group to show you the route for each class. If you are coming through the first gate we must ask that you follow the one-way system so that we do not get a crossover of adults at the gates. The exception to this is parents of new starters in nursery and reception – we will write to you separately with further details. A member of the SLT will be on the pavement outside school to help you navigate your way. We would ask you to please stick to your time slot and be punctual to help us to make this work and please do not gather at the school gates to talk to other parents – for a smooth transition we need to keep the traffic outside school moving.
Collection at the end of the day
Group 1 – 3.15pm
Group 2 – 3.25pm
All teachers will be at the outside door where your children went in. Please tell the member of staff who you are collecting and they will bring them to you. Please be patient and que on the yellow spots while others are collecting their children and maintain a social distance from other adults at all times. Again a member of SLT will be on the pavement so if you are unsure which door to wait at please ask.
I know this probably sounds a bit complicated, but as you know we have a duty to put procedures in place which maximise social distancing and minimise contact. Please help us to make this work and get these procedures right for everyone’s safety.
The children will be in one of 4 ‘bubbles’ when they are in school and will have breaktimes and lunches within their bubbles.
- Early Years (Nursery & Reception)
- KS1 (Years 1 & 2)
- Lower KS2 (Y3, Y4)
- Upper KS2 (Y5, Y6)
The layout of classrooms has been changed so that all children are sitting facing forward.
The usual rules on school attendance will apply from September, including: parents’ duty to ensure that their child attends regularly at school; school’s responsibilities to record attendance and follow up absence.
We will return to our usual uniform policy. Uniform will not need to be cleaned any more often than usual, nor using methods which are different from normal. It is our expectation that all children will wear correct, full school uniform every day, including black school shoes (not trainers) and school trousers or skirt, school jumper and polo shirt. Please see the website for more information.
Children may bring in lunch box if they have packed lunches. Please keep school bags as small as possible preferably a draw string bag that will then hang neatly on their pegs. Children do not need to bring in pencil cases, equipment or book bags. We will provide the children with a zip lock plastic wallet for their book so that this can fit into their trays on their desks.
Our normal online menu and ordering system will be up and running on Tuesday 1st September for you to order school dinners for the following week.Lunch menus will be posted on our website soon. For the first 7 days back to school we are celebration language and cultures within the classrooms and Nicola has very kindly designed a menu for the first week to reflect all the different cultures we have within school. Therefore, the following menu will be in place from Thursday 3rd September until Friday 11th September. There is no need to choose, just book your children in via parent mail from Tuesday 1st September when the admin team have set the registers up if you would like them to have a school dinner.

School Cleaning and Hygiene
Additional daily cleaning procedures will take place throughout the school day to help us minimise the risk of transmission via frequently touched surfaces. Children will have timetabled slots for hand washing and hand sanitising at regular intervals throughout the school day.
Contingency planning – in case of local outbreak
In the event of a local outbreak, the PHE health protection team or local authority may advise a school or a bubble within school, to close temporarily to help control transmission.
